Wang Lifeng is a regular exhibitor at Beijing’s, Red Gate Gallery, where owner, Brian Wallace is famous for incubating some of China’s contemporary stars.

Born in Inner Mongolia in 1962, Wang graduated from the Central Academy of Theatre, Beijing with a degree in stage design in 1986 to become a full time artist. He had two solo sculpture exhibitions in 1986 and 1987 in Beijing. In 1989 he exhibited at the Double Crane Gallery, Seattle, USA, before beginning his association with the Red Gate Gallery, Beijing with an exhibition there in 1993. Wang enjoys regular solo shows at the Red Gate and has contributed to group shows too. His work is included in many corporate collections, including those of: BHP, Westinghouse, Beijing Capital Club, Italian Bank of Commerce, Anglo American. He is also represented in private collections in: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Singapore, Sweden, Hong Kong, China, the USA and the United Kingdom.

In November 2010 the Zhejang Art Museum, Beijing, after a year of preparation, hosted an exhibition of the work of twenty artists chosen by a committee of thirteen academics and presided over by art critic, Yin Shuangxi. The twenty artists designated by the committee as the leading contemporary abstract painters in China were: Wang Lifeng, Zhou Changjiang, Tan Ping, Meng Luding, Zhang Yu, Li Lei, Jiang Dahai, Zhang Guolong, Qi Haiping, Li Xiangming, Yu Zhenli, Shang Yang, Wang Chuan, Wang Yigang, Hu Wei, Liu Yonggang, Yang Jingsong, Bai Ming, Wang Yihui and Mao Lizi.
