Improved Mining Aneroid (Barometer)

This is a precision instrument for calculating small variations in altitude. The magnifying lens can be moved around the edge of the aneroid to focus on the fine needle giving a very accurate reading. The revolving outer scale gives the altitude reading and is locked into position with the small knurled knob. The ascent/descent scale is adjusted by the large knurled knob. The instrument is in good working order, complete and with its original leather case.

Ivory Sector

This is an ivory and brass hinged sector, It measures 12″ in length when open. There is one very small crack where the ivory joins the brass.

Nice example of a Negretti and Zambra pocket barometer low serial number, 8390, not compensated. The case is in good condition and the barometer is in working order.

Newton & Co Demonstration Bar Magnets

A pair of cased Newton and Company Bar Magnets, with a very attractive trade label.giving their address as 3, Fleet Street, near Temple Bar, London. The magnets are 9.25 inches long by 1.25 inches wide, and in good condition with their two original keepers, all cased in a pine box.

A complete set contained within a wooden box with two lift-out trays. The bottom of the box has three ivory rules, one of which is a sector. The box has a key. The instruments are all in good condition.

Pocket Telescope

This is 6 drawer brass pocket telescope. The main body tube is covered in black whale baleen. There are two eye-pieces, a high powered one and a low powered one. E Thurlow worked in Ryde, Isle of Wight from 1848 to 1878, the name is engraved on the first tube. It is in good working order and has its end cap.

Microscope by T & H Doublet, 4 City Road, London. At this address from 1849-1859. Eight inches high on a green enamel base, this microscope is in good condition noting small loss of paint where position of the instrument is adjusted. In an attractive mahogany case with circular label in lid.
